windcover

Windcovers are protective covers designed to reduce wind noise and handling noise on microphones used in broadcast, film, and live sound applications. Fitting over the microphone capsule or an existing foam windscreen, a windcover typically uses acoustic foam, open-cell materials, or fur-style fabric to diffuse turbulent airflow before it reaches the microphone diaphragm. They are used by sound recordists, journalists, broadcasters, and production crews working in outdoor or unpredictable acoustic environments where wind interference degrades audio quality.
